Choreography/direction/concept is by Anne-Marie Mulgrew, noted as “one of Philadelphia’s most conceptual and prolific dance makers.” (The Philadelphia Inquirer) This full-length work is created in corroboration with longtime collaborator/filmmaker Carmella Vassor-Johnson. Additional collaborators are costume designer Brian Strachan (constructed hats/long coats), photographer/videographer Stan Sadowski, and technical director Catherine Lee. The cast features some of Philly’s finest dancers: Jacklyn Koch, Sarah Konner, Anne-Marie Mulgrew, Jodi Obeid, Leslie Ann Pike, Kate Speer and  MC/Stiltwalker, Christine Morano plus surprise guests. Set to an eclectic soundscore of Parisian songs, classical, pop and uncategorized sounds, Le Dada invites audiences-of-all-ages to this adventure. The program consists of a dozen short theatrical vignettes, dances and art installations inspired by the architecture of the space and the festival theme, Paris in 1911 moving towards 2011. Highlights include: video projections on walls juxtaposed with live performance, a 2011 installation inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s notorious Etant Donnes, dancers clinging to  doorways and walls,  a pew dance, characters such as the lighted-hat lady who drops Kleenexs  from the choir loft, a re-imagined version of  Mulgrew’s 1992’s Earthborne featuring a woman on a ladder watching a stick dance,  carousel like-dances using the fallen chandelier as a sculpture, unexpected scenarios and audience interaction. Le Dada explores every nook and cranny of the glorious cathedral-like space. Le Dada aims to bring new awareness to the building’s architecture and history. The performance commences outside in the courtyard area at the front of the building. They will also provide festive historic music around the grounds during the event. Historic foodways expert Deborah Peterson of Deborah Peterson’s Pantry will be demonstrating open-hearth cooking in the Pottsgrove Manor kitchen. Visitors can also shop at the Manor’s museum shop for colonial games, books, and unique gifts.     While visitors can’t try the food cooked in the colonial kitchen, they will be able to purchase lunch and snacks during the event. Hillybilly BBQ of Limerick will be selling their delicious sandwiches, and the Milkman Lunch Co. and Cake Shoppe of Pottstown will offer a variety of tasty baked goods for sale.   A donation of $2 per person is suggested for this event.
