| Description: |
| Aiming to become a community anchor with the capacity to unite theater professionals, students and local residents of all ages, New Haarlem Arts Theatre, the professional theater company of City College of New York (CCNY), will present its first play for young audiences, "Flying Fables," adapted by Obie-winner Stephanie Berry, directed by John-Martin Green with choreography and staging by Bruce Hawkins, and original music by Patricia Ju from July 14 to 27 at Aaron Davis Hall, 135th Street and Convent Avenue.
The play is a modern, urban fairytale about a young ambitious couple, Marie and Charles, who are in flux in their marriage. Waking one morning to a common dream, they follow the dream’s instructions to search for a trunk which they believe holds the key to their happiness in the tunnels of the subways. They are transported into the magical world of fables where they are ushered through a series of tales (from Africa, Asia and South America) by their childhood alter-egos. As the moral of each story unfolds, the main characters experience powerful revelations. Using drama, music and movement the performers bring fresh interpretations to traditional fables.
FULL SCHEDULE:Two evening shows: Saturday, July 14, and Wednesday, July 18 at 7:00 PM. Matinees: Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, July 16, 17, 19, and 20, and July 23, 24, 26, and 27 at 2:00 PM; Sunday, July 22 at 2:00 PM and Wednesday, July 25 at 12:00 PM. |

New York, July 12 -- For the first time, Camp Kids 'N Comedy will open their Graduation Shows to the public for three shows, on July 20, August 3 and August 17 (all are Fridays), at 3:00 PM in Gotham Comedy club, 208 W 23 Street between 7th and 8th Avenues.
During the regular theater season (October through May), Kids ‘N Comedy presents shows featuring a troupe of experienced teenage comics who have been performing with with the company for years. These July 20, August 3 and August 17, 2012 shows, however, are introductory events for new comics, all of whom have studied this summer in Camp Kids 'N Comedy and some of whom will be making their debut performances.
The comics appearing in the Graduation shows have trained this summer in Kids 'N Comedy Camp workshops at Gotham Comedy Club, studying in the company of other hilarious teens and mentored by professional writers and comedians from around New York. They have learned to script, workshop and perform their very own stand-up routines, which will now be tested for the first time. On each of the three dates, a group of about ten comedians ages ten to seventeen will be featured.
Camp Kids 'N Comedy is a training program built on sixteen successful years of growing the stand-up comedy skills of children. It is being held this summer for the sixth time. The program is designed for middle-to-high schoolers. Some of the comics in the camp are taking it for the first time; others are returning for their second or third years.
In Kids 'N Comedy shows, each comic performs his/her own material, which is screened to be free of profanity and abrasive or cheap "low" humor (like fart jokes). They do, however, venture into edgy comic terrain: politics, getting old, even death. Laura Weiss wrote in Big Apple Parent, "This kid humor is quirky and often slightly mordant, with a sophistication that belies the comedians' youth. Plus, these kids are hilarious."
Jo Ann Grossman, who created Kids 'N Comedy in 1996 with her husband Stu Morden, says "Kids ’N Comedy gives ‘class comics’ a stage where they can really perform, and not just carry on in the back of the classroom. In our classes, kids get to learn comedy from the bottom up, and gain the skills to actually create and perform their own personal stand-up comedy routines developed from their own unique experiences."
Tickets to the Graduation Shows are $10 plus a one item minimum. Reservations are necessary for all three performances. Audience members may call 212-877-6115 to reserve. Online ticketing is not available for these Camp Graduation Shows.

| Inside you is an innate wisdom that intuitively understands about the very natural process of birth. We help you reconnect with this wisdom, guiding you through a class specifically designed for the journey of pregnancy. Linking yoga postures with the breath will lead you to new discoveries, bringing awareness to the mind, body and spirit, and also the spirit of your baby. The program, conducted in a calm, peaceful environment will help strengthen the uterus and pelvic muscles, improve circulation, aid in digestion, exercise the spine and increase overall comfort. Yoga can also alleviate many of the discomforts of pregnancy such as nausea, constipation, varicose veins, swelling, back pain and sciatica. A safe, open community allows you to freely discuss any issues, from discomforts and concerns, to the wonderful new changes your body and baby are experiencing. |

Tico Tales, a bi-lingual musical adaptation of traditional Costa Rican folk tales, has been selected for the summer production. The creative team, Michael Sgouros and Brenda Bell, who have written 8 original musicals together, chose this piece after bringing their production of "A Christmas Carol" to Costa Rica this past December. Inspired by the beauty of the nature, the warmth of the people and the rhythms of their community, Sgouros and Bell returned to New York excited to share a theatre piece that embodies this rich culture. Tico Tales is their love letter to Costa Rica!
